ALLEN CHAPEL AME CHURCH PASTOR

Reverend Shirley Myrick

P.O. Box 700676

Wabasso, FL 32970

(772) 918-4577

Rev. Shirley Myrick is a dedicated and esteemed itinerant elder

in the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church. Rev.

Myrick is deeply rooted in a family legacy of faith. Her father,

Deacon Fred Davis Jr., was a beloved deacon in the Baptist

Church, and his example of steadfast devotion and service to

the Lord has had a lasting impact on her life and ministry. Rev.

Myrick’s own journey of faith is inspired by her father’s

commitment to the church, and she continues to carry forward

that legacy of service and leadership in her own role as an

itinerant elder in the A.M.E. Church.

Rev. Myrick was educated through the Polk County public

school system and graduated from Winter Haven Senior High

School. Rev. Myrick completed four years at the A.M.E.

Institute, further deepening her theological education and

commitment to ministry. Her time at the Institute equipped

her with a strong foundation in scripture, church doctrine, and

pastoral leadership, all of which continue to guide her in her

various roles within the A.M.E. Church. The knowledge and

skills she gained have been instrumental in her ability to serve

effectively as a pastor, mentor, and District Coordinator for

Women in Ministry on the Daytona Beach District.

Rev. Myrick served for a short time as the District Coordinator

for Women in Ministry on the Daytona Beach District of the

African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church. In this vital role,

she supported and empowered women in ministry, helping to

foster spiritual growth, leadership, and community

involvement. Rev. Myrick’s commitment to uplifting and

mentoring women in the church reflects her passion for

strengthening the body of Christ and encouraging others to live

out their faith with purpose and grace.

Her calling to ministry began in 1992 at St. Paul A.M.E. Church

in Lake Alfred, Florida, where she served as an associate

minister. Rev. Myrick’s ministry journey expanded as she took

on roles at various churches, including serving as associate

minister at New Hope A.M.E. Church in Lakeland, Florida, and

as Youth Minister at St. James A.M.E. Church in Bartow, Florida.

In 2005, she became the pastor of Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church

in Seville, Florida, marking a significant milestone in her

spiritual leadership. Over the years, Rev. Myrick has pastored

several A.M.E. congregations, including Macedonia Oak Hill

A.M.E. Church in Oak Hill, St. John A.M.E. Church in Citra, Mt.

Zion A.M.E. Church in DeLeon Springs and Mt. Olive A.M.E

Church in Lake Helen, Florida.

Currently, Rev. Myrick serves as the pastor of Allen Chapel

A.M.E. Church in Wabasso, Florida, where she continues to lead

with compassion, faith, and unwavering dedication to her

congregation and community. Her work is a testament to her

deep commitment to ministry and her enduring legacy in the

A.M.E. Church.

Rev. Myrick is married to Whymon Myrick and a devoted

mother to two handsome adult sons and two beautiful

daughters, and a proud grandmother to two precious

grandbabies. She cherishes her role as a mother and

grandmother, with her family being a source of love and

support throughout her life and ministry. Her deep faith and

commitment to her loved ones reflect her nurturing spirit, as

she continues to lead and guide others in her role as a pastor.

Rev. Myrick holds a strong and unwavering belief in the core

principles of Christianity. She believes that Jesus Christ died for

our sins on Calvary and that God raised Him from the dead.

She holds the Bible as the primary textbook for knowing God

and firmly believes in the doctrine of the Trinity—God, Jesus

Christ, and the Holy Ghost as three in one.

Her favorite scripture, which reflects her deep faith and trust in

God’s guidance, is Psalm 23:1 (NLT): “The Lord is my shepherd; I

have all that I need.” This verse encapsulates her unwavering

reliance on God’s provision and care as she continues to lead

and inspire others in her ministry.
